“Sanctuary of Words”

You get to build your perfect space for reading and writing. What’s it like?

My perfect space for reading and writing would reflect a balance of creativity, calm, and cultural pride. It would be a room bathed in soft natural light during the day, with warm, ambient lighting at night. The walls would feature art and photography that celebrate Afro-Caribbean heritage, alongside a few cherished quotes about leadership and resilience.

The space would have a large wooden desk, its surface smooth but well-worn, with enough room for notebooks, a laptop, and a steaming cup of tea or coffee. A bookshelf stretching from floor to ceiling would line one wall, filled with a mix of poetry, theology, business, and history—stories that spark inspiration and provoke thought.

A cozy chair, big enough to sink into, would sit by a window, perfect for quiet moments of reflection. Nearby, a small table would hold my Bible, a journal, and a few pens. The room would be soundproofed to block distractions, ensuring the only sound is the rhythm of my thoughts and the occasional breeze rustling through. It would be a sanctuary where creativity flows, and stories are brought to life.
