“Renga Poetry Showcase: Love in Every Line”

Welcome to the Renga Poetry Showcase, where love takes shape through the power of collaboration. This is the spot where all submitted Renga poems will be displayed, showing off the creative chemistry between poets as they bring their words together in harmony.

📜 What is a Renga?

Renga is a Japanese form of linked poetry where two poets take turns writing verses. One starts with a 5-7-5 syllable stanza, and the other follows with a 7-7 syllable stanza. This back-and-forth builds a poem that flows naturally, creating something greater than either poet could write alone. Since love is all about connection, it felt right to make Renga the heart of this event.

🔍 What to Look for in Each Renga:

  • Flow & Connection: Do the poets’ words blend smoothly, creating a natural rhythm?
  • Emotion: Does the poem make you feel something—love, longing, warmth, or passion?
  • Imagery & Creativity: Does it paint a vivid picture or capture love in an unexpected way?
  • Balance Between Poets: Do the two voices complement each other while keeping their unique styles?

For guidance on structure and style, see the example below.

This example reflects my personal journey—love that lingers, moments frozen in time, and the quiet ache of remembrance. It serves as a guide on how structure and emotion blend within a Renga while allowing each poet’s voice to shine.

This page is all about celebrating love in its many forms—romantic, self-love, deep friendships—through the lens of poetry. Read, reflect, and enjoy the journey these poets take you on. #LoveAbovetheLabel

Unspoken Goodbyes

The house feels hollow,
your voice lingers in the walls,
a ghost I still love.

Fingertips trace empty air,
wishing they could touch the past.

I read your last note,
the ink smudged by old regrets,
words I can’t unread.

Some goodbyes never get said,
just left hanging in the space.

I drive past your street,
slow down at the flashing light,
but never turn in.

Memories sit in my chest,
heavy like a stone unturned.

Maybe in some way,
we never really let go,
just learn how to hold.

And somehow, love lingers on,
even when the heart moves on.

Grounded Together

Whisper of a kiss
Hearts beating in unison
Our restless passion

Nostalgia for things unseen
For futures yet untasted

Our touch sings out loud
The quiet of the night ends
With a symphony

Embracing nature’s moments
its roots and seas anchor us

How do we find this
Lovely morsel of treasure
Buried deep in time

That heartfelt feeling of love
Keeps us grounded – together

Divine Connection

Receive my passion.
You’re mentally undressing,
I can read your mind.

Looking deep into your eyes,
A true divine connection aligned.

You give me my thirst.
Your body’s like a temple,
Yes, you are my church.

I accept the invitation,
To be loved, I know my worth.

She heals all my hurts.
No pain, together love reigns
She is my Oxygen.

He is the air that I breathe
Feeding my mind every time.

The sun of her tune,
We are lovers of the moon.
Together we access.

Nothing will break this bonding quest.
We’ve mastered every test.

I will never box her in,
She blows like the wind
Her every wish I give.

Souls tied like the stars above
Essence of true love begins.

THE SPARK OF NEW LOVE

Exciting as chai
and mocha-flavoured golfi
Such is love’s prospect.

Bitter taste of adverse time
Turns honey under love’s shade.

Strong palpitation
As you come near, my new beau,
I lose control of.

L’amour jolts a sleeping heart,
Then every neuron dances.

I wish I could mask
The stubborn blush on my cheeks,
sparkle in my eyes.

But my love-smitten heart sighs,
and whispers my beloved’s name.

I guess we can’t hide,
The strong love we feel inside,
Such is our new love.

Flowers bloom in the garden
Fragrance reaches far and wide.

Our Love Echoed

We are called to Love
Fourteenth of February
Wine, Roses and Song

Days of hope; Nights of pleasure
An emotional treasure

Love is seductive
Always tantalizing me
Embracing my charms

Keeping me awake at nights
As its caresses take flight

Awake in my dreams
Giving you the best of me
Total loyalty

And then morning comes too soon
And reality wakes me

Valentine’s Day’s gone
Let’s hope the Love continues
Beyond the Fourteenth

One day can’t hold all my Love
Thousand years won’t be enough

Love goes beyond years
Forever’s the chosen word
In Love every day

Falling in Love all day long
Blissfully embraced by you

Love’s power can heal
Mend broken relationships
And grace over wrongs

In those times we are at odds
Love will still communicate

A full testament
Fraught with sincere acts and words
Love’s mansion we build

Love is unconditional
Keeping the foundation strong

A Love filled with trust
Solid and firm as a rock
Armor for the heart

Protecting your Lover’s life
With a never-ending Love

Questions & Concerns:

Greetings, writers! Thank you for considering our contest event.

To clarify a common question—do both collaborating poets need to submit their pieces separately? The answer is no. Only one poet should submit the final composition through the Google form once it is complete.

If y’all are struggling to start or finish the renga, here’s a simple way to keep it flowing.

Starting (5-7-5): The first verse sets the mood—think love, longing, or warmth. Picture a moment that speaks to February love.
Example:
Snow melts on soft lips (5)
Fingers trace a whispered touch (7)
Hearts beat in silence (5)

Flowing (7-7, then 5-7-5): Each verse should connect but shift a little, like passing love notes. Keep it natural, like a conversation between hearts.
Example:
Night wraps us in silk embrace (7)
Moonlight lingers on your skin (7)

Then back to 5-7-5:
Your laugh in the breeze (5)
Soft as petals in the wind (7)
I hold you closer (5)

Finishing (Final 7-7): Wrap it up with a lasting feeling—love that lingers, a promise, or even a bittersweet goodbye.
Example:
Love echoes beyond the stars (7)
Your name stays upon my lips (7)

Keep it smooth, don’t overthink it, and just let the words flow. Love is felt, not forced. Let’s keep the renga going!

Renga count is the pattern renga follows—starting with 5-7-5, followed by 7-7, then repeating the cycle (5-7-5, 7-7) as poets take turns adding verses. It can go on for 36, 50, or even 100 verses, with each new part connecting to the last but shifting themes. It’s a poetic relay, built on teamwork and creativity.

I have to say, the entries so far are overflowing with chemistry, flowing together like one river. This initiative was meant to bring together two poets from different styles, cultures, and backgrounds—polar opposites—uniting as one. Our world is rich with diversity, yet too often, we let it divide us. The real challenge is: can we embrace our differences and create something truly beautiful together? Let’s keep breaking barriers, one verse at a time.
