Krafty Page Chronicles Renga Prompt Contest

Theme: February’s Love – Heartfelt Moments
Prompt:
KVI Network Creations is at it again with exciting new contests for 2025! This time, we’re celebrating February’s Love Month with a creative twist. Poets are invited to join forces and dive into the beautiful world of Renga—a traditional Japanese collaborative poetry form. Explore the evolving nature of love, whether it’s the spark of new romance, the quiet beauty of long-lasting connection, or the deep, transformative power of self-love.
Pair up with another poet to write a Renga inspired by February’s Love – Heartfelt Moments. Through alternating verses, your combined words should create a flowing, emotive portrayal of love. Focus on tenderness, passion, longing, and joy that define love in February’s embrace. The entire submission should contain a minimum of 50-100 words.

Greetings, writers! Thank you for considering our contest event.
To clarify a common question—do both collaborating poets need to submit their pieces separately? The answer is no. Only one poet should submit the final composition through the Google form once it is complete.
Please refer to the example format for guidance.
If y’all are struggling to start or finish the renga, here’s a simple way to keep it flowing.
Starting (5-7-5): The first verse sets the mood—think love, longing, or warmth. Picture a moment that speaks to February love.
Example:
Snow melts on soft lips (5)
Fingers trace a whispered touch (7)
Hearts beat in silence (5)
Flowing (7-7, then 5-7-5): Each verse should connect but shift a little, like passing love notes. Keep it natural, like a conversation between hearts.
Example:
Night wraps us in silk embrace (7)
Moonlight lingers on your skin (7)
Then back to 5-7-5:
Your laugh in the breeze (5)
Soft as petals in the wind (7)
I hold you closer (5)
Finishing (Final 7-7): Wrap it up with a lasting feeling—love that lingers, a promise, or even a bittersweet goodbye.
Example:
Love echoes beyond the stars (7)
Your name stays upon my lips (7)
Keep it smooth, don’t overthink it, and just let the words flow. Love is felt, not forced. Let’s keep the renga going!
We've had a few questions come up, so let’s clear things up:
1️⃣ How many stanzas? No set limit—write as many as flow naturally.
2️⃣ Word count? We’ve adjusted it! Your Renga should be between 50-100 words minimum.
3️⃣ Format? Follow the traditional Renga style: alternating 5-7-5 and 7-7 stanzas between two poets.
Example:
Poet 1:
Beneath the bright moon,
whispers of love fill the night,
like soft winds that pass. (5-7-5)
Poet 2:
Held within your arms so tight,
I forget the world outside. (7-7)
Poet 1:
Through winter’s cold winds,
the warmth of you is my light,
guiding me to you. (5-7-5)
Poet 2:
Like the sun melts frozen ground,
your love thaws my weary heart. (7-7)
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions.
