Today, I pause, hand over heart,
To honor those who took their part—
In battles fought, in skies and sands,
In distant lands, with steady hands.
From the Corps where I once stood,
With grit and fire, as a Marine should,
I think of you, my family strong,
Who served beside me, right and wrong.
Through Kuwait’s heat, Iraq’s cold nights,
We forged our strength, embraced the fight.
Not for medals, not for fame,
But for love of country, in duty’s name.
To all of you, who bear the scars,
Of memories deep from distant wars,
Today is yours, our family bond—
With every step, we carry on.
Brothers, sisters, tried and true,
I honor each and all of you.
Today’s your day, with pride we stand,
A grateful nation, hand in hand.
So here’s to you, who served with me,
With valor, strength, and dignity.
To every vet, both far and near—
Today’s for us—be blessed, my dear.
From one Marine to all who gave,
May peace and honor light your way.
