MAN VERSUS LIGHT
Am I not a man bred to be fearless?
Am I not a man, bred to be the protector of his nest?
I walked up behind you, silently whispering your name.
In response,
You turned and looked me in the eyes. Explain.
Why would I, this fearless man, shy away?
I liken you, a being of light so bright, an angel from heaven, the sun casting daylight.
Looking at you is viewing the sun without shades, hurting eyes, almost blinding.
I am addicted.
An aura of beauty, a diamond in disguise.
I’m a helpless little moth, can’t stay away from the light.
In your eyes, there is purity; it’s innocence.
Makes me feel a sense of guilt as you naked my soul.
Too bold are your eyes; you cast them upon me.
Causing my mind to want to expose out loud, in the open,
Exactly what I’m thinking, what I’m really trying to hide.
You’ve breached all barriers of my fortress, my armor, a Princess seduces her Knight.
Your eyes, a full moon to the night, I flee it.
But your unyielding gaze conjures something within me now uncaged.
Makes me go weak in the knees; I hunger for you, a wolf in a frenzy.
Yes, whenever you’d smile, it activates a volcano in my heart that cannot be held at bay.
I’m forced to cry out, a lone wolf for you, his full moon.
Am I afraid of you?
Am I not a man?
No! I am most afraid if, for you, I can’t do all that I can.
But do know this, as I give you my all, both day and all through the night,
Even to the end of time.
I promise to keep you ablaze, as I fill your fire with my coal.
What is coal?
It is me keeping you laughing, content,
And never a day will you go without smiling.
No! Never a day, not even at night, will I ever abandon, rekindling your light.
Am I not the ideal man who was destined to love you?
Am I not that man in your dream mirror, looking back at you?
Don’t ever turn off that inner light.
If you do, how would I ever find you?
“I See You.”
“It’s Me versus You.”
